Second day of project work

The plan for the day was to finish all the buttons for the BeatBox. Yesterday we had tried out some (actually, two) ways of cutting the rubber foam so that the tinfoil connects well when we compress it. Today we started working on the rest of the button design.

We ended up using gaffa tape to stick a piece of steel wire to the tinfoil. This way we would ensure a big connection area for the conducting wire, so that the button would not stop working if a piece of the tinfoil is ripped.

We also noticed that the flexibility of the gaffa tape allowed for the tinfoil to shape into the holes of the perforated rubber foam. We did another test with a stiff piece of paper, but noticed that this showed some tendencies to rip the tinfoil apart when pressed in the way we intend to use it.

Since we only bought one sheet of rubber foam, we quickly ran out of supplies and rounded the night off by deciding what to do on Wednesday instead.
