Starting the project work

Today we started the real work with the project.

We first had a little informal group meeting where we discussed a little details on how and what should be done. We felt that the focus in the start was on the bag and the buttons, rather than on the game that the bag are controlling.

We decided to try and make the triggers for our selves using two small sheets of tinfoil with a piece of foam rubber in between them. When the foam rubber is compressed, the two pieces of tinfoil connects and closes the switch.

One big issue that we were discussing was how the feedback should work. Should we have sound? Light (leds)? Or both?
We agreed that there should be sound, and if we have some time left over at the end of the project, maybe we will also add some lights. The types of sounds were not discussed in detail, but leaned towards some kind of human voice that either does pep talk or pain sounds.

The work for this monday was (for me) diveded into two parts. First me, Josefin and Jesper went shopping for some supplies to get us started with the buttons, and the punching bag itself.

We found a great store for the foam rubber called "Specialplast" located between St Eriksplan and Odenplan in Stockholm. We picked up the bag (bundled with a pair of boxing gloves!) at the Stadium, and picked up some synthetic leather from a store called "Olssons tyger och stuvar" (or something along that line, can't exactly remeber the name).

The second part of the work was about trying to get a good prototype for the buttons. We tried out two ways of making the holes, and the second approach (the one marked B) worked out great in our first tests.
